What is the future of electric cars in America?
Environmental advocates insist that dependence upon gasoline for commuting will be disastrous. However, companies like General Motors are slow to make changes on the production line because they have tremendously large bureaucracies. The good news is that large amounts of venture capital are being poured into startups in Silicon Valley to manufacture electric cars.

What kind of pieces fit under the umbrella of green furniture?
Traditionally green furniture has been thought of as pieces like chairs or couches. In order for these products to be green a company used recycled products that would not sit in landfills. Now, however, green furniture is expanding to include environmentally friendly curtains, LCD TVs, and energy-efficient appliances.

How are politicians making use of sustainable energy practices in their rhetoric?
At a town hall meeting style debate a citizen asked both Barack Obama and John McCain how sustainable energy practices would fit into their new administrations. Both candidates responded that the United States needed to be freed from its dependence upon foreign oil, but Barack Obama was much more specific, saying that he wanted to be free of dependence upon Middle East oil in the next 10 years. Critics of John McCain cite his insistence upon offshore drilling as nearsighted and part of the Republican tradition of courting oil lobbyists. Critics of Barack Obama say that he does not offer enough specifics in his energy plans, but environmental advocates tend to back the Democratic candidate
