Green products

Green products have made their way into the most unlikely of stores. Wal-Mart, once viewed as the most non-environmentally friendly companies, now features links on their Web pages to green products. For example, currently Wal-Mart is highlighting eco-friendly household cleaners.

While some cynics may see that big box stores like Wal-Mart are only jumping on the bandwagon to increase sales, others feel like any promotion of green products is a good one. Wal-Mart's current promotion highlights environmentally friendly Arm and Hammer surface cleaners. These products are plant-based cleaners and have no ammonia or phosphates.

In fact, Wal-Mart is not the only company promoting green products to clean the home. There are now boutique housecleaners that only use green products. They tend to operate in upper to middle-class neighborhoods where clients can afford higher priced services. They charge a premium for using green cleaners, but customers feel that having a chemical free household makes their family healthier.
